Professor Takeiho Kitamori, Tokyo University - Honorary Doctor at Lund University.
On December 4, 2015, the Board of the Engineering Faculty at Lund University, LTH, decided to award Professor Takehiko Kitamori an Honorary Doctorate at Lund University. Prof. Kitamori is a world leading scientist in the field of microfluidics and Lab-On-A-Chip (LOC). His researchlab at the Department of Applied Chemistry has pioneered several LOC-concepts both within ultrasensitive medical diagnostics, and within optimised chemical synthesis for industrial production. More lately he has been a leading scientist in the development of nanoscale fluidics, enabling access to and analysis of the intracellular compartment.
Prof. Kitamori is one of the founders of the Chemical and Biological Microsystems Society , CBMS, which organises the worlds largest conference on microfluidics and Lab-On-A-Chip development on an annual basis. He has also in his position as Vice President of Tokyo University, with responsibility for international relations, been the driving force to establish and formalise a student exchange agreement between Lund University and Tokyo University.
